So how does Deepika keep that famous face of hers looking like it does? “I believe in leading a very healthy lifestyle,” she shares, “I love my sleep and try catching up on it whenever I can. The first thing I do when I wake up is keep myself in a peaceful state of mind, with very little disturbance or sound nearby. I then do my yoga, pranayams and suryanamaskars and get ready for my day ahead.”
Her physical regimen, she says, consists of a gamut of routines, be it playing her favourite sport badminton, swimming or skipping. “My trainer in Mumbai gets me to work out religiously and as much as I hate hitting the treadmill, I have to resort to that when I’m travelling on a shoot. It’s always better to be out in the open air than in some hotel gym on a treadmill,” she opines.
While time doesn’t permit her to partake in all her favourite homemade remedies, Deepika confesses to using plenty of sunscreen as a quick fix. “Many people are unaware of the effects of the sun on their skin and if I had to pick a product I use the most, it would have to be my sunscreen. I love oiling my hair too but nowadays I find very little time for that,” she sighs, almost miffed with her busy life.
Not a believer in strict diets, Deepika eats healthy but chooses not to cut things out completely. “As a South Indian, it’s very difficult for me to give up on rice, when everyone is only going on and on about quitting it completely. I eat three to four egg whites a day, to keep my protein intake high and believe in having a meal every two hours, whether it’s a salad or some chicken,” she says of her eating habits.
