Netflix has just added the 2012 film “Heroine”, starring Kareena Kapoor, to its collection of Bollywood movies, and I just had to capture some screen shots and break down this particular look from the film (in which Mahi Arora meets her PR agent). Not only had I absolutely loved it within the context of the movie, but I also had a makeup request from one of my readers specifically for this very scene!
To begin, make sure you have a flawless base. Apply a primer (a sunscreen would be appropriate, considering Bebo is sitting by the poolside), follow with your favorite foundation or tinted moisturizer. Concealer isn’t necessary for this; you’ll want to appear even-toned, but don’t need to go all-out to conceal darkness, since you’re going for a natural, no-makeup feel.
This look is marked by Kareena’s ethereal “perfection complexion”, raspberry-tinted cheeks, and a pretty and unassuming lipstick. Sweep a cool pink blush (MAC Powder Blush in Coygirl) over the apples of your cheeks and blend. Apply a sweet pink lipstick (MAC Lipstick in Sweetie). Make the look authentic with medium brown, wind-swept locks. Curl a few tendrils of your hair here and there and loosely tie the rest back.
Kareena’s understated eye makeup is actually similar to a look sported by Priyanka Chopra in Fashion. Her lids and crease are swept with a neutral light brown shadow (pick a color that is only one or two shades darker than your skintone). A faint dusting of highlighter powder (e.g. MAC Eye Shadow in Shroom, Ricepaper) is applied over the upper lashes in a line of medium thickness. This is followed by a line of black gel eyeliner (MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack). Curl lashes, apply mascara, and you’re all set!
What was your favorite look from the movie?
