This one is personal for me because I used to be a dancer and performed “Mayya Mayya” at a function. What I remember most about it was that I mistakenly overapplied a bronzer with shimmer on my cheeks and ended up looking like a disco ball in every photo. My excuse? I was still in high school- it was an experimental makeup era!
Here’s how you REALLY get Mallika Sherawat‘s belly dancer makeup from the 2007 Bollywood film “Guru”.
Sweep the lids with a bronze eyeshadow with subtle shimmer (MAC Eye Shadow in Honesty). Apply a reddish-brown matte eyeshadow (MAC Eye Shadow in Swiss Chocolate) in the crease, blending outward to form a shadow wing. Line your lower waterline and upper lashline with your favorite black eyeliner. Brush a reddish blush (MAC Powder Blush in Pinch Me) to the apples of your cheeks. Apply a matte bronzing powder (MAC Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze) to your cheekbones. Finish the look with a yellow-red lipstick (MAC Lipstick in Brave Red).
This post was written in honor of being one of the lucky half of Mallika’s Twitter followers whom she follows back! Yay!
