Actress Tang Wei had been hitting it out of the park at Cannes with her sartorial choices. She was ethereally elegant in a white Valentino gown at The Weinstein Company VIP Press Event. I loved her hair too, it’s actually long but styled to look short. It would be interesting if she ever chose to cut her hair that length because I think that would be very flattering. She completed this stunning look by accessorizing with her “Wu Xia” co-star Takeshi Kaneshiro, my dream Asian man. He makes anything better looking.
She was also wonderfully fresh and young looking in a Chanel Spring 2011 look at the “Wu Xia” photo call. It’s a pretty hard ensemble to pull off (it could easily look matronly on a more curvy individual), but Tang Wei looked great. The only thing I’d change is the hair, I think the stylists failed to account for the fact that the event was outdoors. The wind made her hair look a bit messy/frizzy. Still, she looks great and she’s young, so what if her hair is messy?
My favorite look of them all though, was the gorgeous light peachy pink Roberto Cavalli gown she wore to the “Wu Xia” premiere. She accessorized with Chanel jewelry and Jimmy Choo heels. This is possibly my favorite Cannes 2011 look, period. She was stunning and the faux short hair was back! Yay! I loved the long train, totally glamourous and beautiful. Perfect for a Cannes premiere. And how fine does Takeshi look? Perfection.
The buck stopped there. She looked horrible at the premiere of “The Artist” wearing Dolce and Gabbana. Well her hair and makeup was still good, but from neck down everything was a mess.
First of all, she looks way too casual. A knee length star-printed dress and a white blazer would be fine for a photo call, but looks out of place at a premiere. Especially a premiere in Cannes, where everyone is bring out the big glamour guns. And then we have the fishnets and those hideous pumps. Those shoes look cheap and outdated and, well, the fishnets are just mind boggling. Who thought that was a good idea? Fishnets are only appropriate of you’re slithering on a pole preparing to fling your clothes off. And what’s up with those earrings? They look like they’re from Claire’s.
This whole ensemble is inexplicable! The only way this look could be improved would be if she called up Takeshi … to stand in front of her. Wait a minute, that’s a great idea! Let’s at least end this blog post on a good note. You can thank me later.
